Co-Packaged Optics & AI Infrastructure Advisory
CPO adoption depends on more than a bandwidth roadmap. Power, serviceability, packaging yield, qualification and network architecture determine whether a technically attractive solution is commercially deployable.

Who this is for
Institutional investors, private equity teams, semiconductor analysts, optical networking companies and strategic consulting firms.
What the advisory work covers
Architecture and system fit
Compare pluggable optics, near-packaged optics and co-packaged optics in the context of the required reach, power budget and service model. Distinguish scale-out networks connecting compute systems from scale-up fabrics joining accelerators; protocols, topology and operating requirements matter.
Laser and optical-engine exposure
Map external laser sources, continuous-wave DFB lasers, EMLs and silicon photonics optical engines to specific architectures. An EML route and a CW-laser-plus-modulator route create different device, packaging and qualification dependencies.
Manufacturing and deployment readiness
Assess optical coupling, test coverage, repair strategy, thermal design and supply-chain dependencies. Separate a demonstration, product introduction, customer qualification and repeatable production.
Typical consulting use cases
- Review a CPO investment thesis and its adoption assumptions.
- Map 800G-to-1.6T supplier exposure by architecture rather than headline bandwidth.
- Prepare management questions on external laser redundancy, field replacement and optical-engine yield.
Scope and evidence
Engagements can range from a focused technical consultation to a scoped written review. A written scope identifies the decision, permitted sources, deliverables and limitations. Private adviser credentials are shared during suitability checks. Access to non-public supplier records or testing is never assumed.
Buyer questions
Does 1.6T automatically mean CPO?
No. Aggregate module bandwidth and packaging architecture are separate choices. 1.6T pluggable designs also exist; the implementation must be identified.
Can you verify customer adoption or private shipment figures?
Only using public evidence or records lawfully supplied for the engagement. Unsupported supplier claims are identified as unverified.
What does an engagement deliver?
Depending on scope: an expert consultation, architecture comparison, supply-chain map or a written evidence-and-risk assessment. No adoption date is guaranteed.
