Where we contribute

From device physics to investment decisions.

Integrated photonics

Silicon photonics and III–V / InP platforms; foundry and PDK selection; design-to-fabrication planning; packaging, coupling and test strategy.

Lasers & optical networking

DFB and CW lasers, EMLs, modulators and detectors. Technical assessment of 800G / 1.6T optics, external laser sources and co-packaged optics.

Manufacturing & scale-up

NPI readiness, process integration, yield and reliability, equipment qualification, supplier capability and realistic capacity-ramp assumptions.

Technical due diligence

Assess technology differentiation, manufacturing barriers, supply-chain exposure and commercialisation risk using public and authorised information.

Product & programme strategy

Translate technical ambition into milestones, partner scopes, validation criteria, product roadmaps and practical commercialisation plans.

Photonic computing

Evaluate photonic matrix multiplication and optical computing architectures, with attention to calibration, system interfaces and evidence behind performance claims.

Prior industry experience

Manufacturing experience at Lumentum. Perspective relevant to CPO.

Hands-on photonic device productisation

The principal adviser previously held process-architecture and engineering roles at Lumentum in the UK (2021–2025), contributing to InP photonic-device and high-speed modulator manufacturing, process integration, qualification and new-product introduction.

Relevance to co-packaged optics

That experience informs independent assessment of the manufacturing, yield, reliability, qualification and scale-up challenges facing optical components and their supply chains. It complements advisory work on external laser sources, silicon-photonics interfaces and CPO ecosystem readiness.

This describes prior individual employment and transferable expertise, not participation in a specific Lumentum CPO programme. Photonics Frontier Advisory is independent of Lumentum; no affiliation, endorsement or access to confidential information is implied. Lumentum is referenced by name only.
